Hola a todos,

Just to let you know we are here and that all is well.  The flight was smooth, your sons/ daughters were engaged and excited about the prospect ahead and despite a small delay on arrival (poor Mr Perkins' suitcase didn't turn up) we arrived in glorious sunshine at Las Canteras about 3 pm local time.

The people here never fail to welcome us with open arms. All the Spanish children had brought a plate of food and after a short welcome speech by the directora, a huge picnic was laid out in the sunshine and the 'fiesta de bienvenida' began. I believe many students felt quite overwhelmed by just how relaxed and lovely everyone is and because of the relief in the understanding that everything was going to be just fine.

The seeds of friendships have have been scattered this afternoon and I really felt proud of  all the Piggott students as the boldly went off with their respective families at around 5pm prepared to discover what it means to be part of a real Spanish family.

Well done all of you year 10s and 12s if you are reading this. Make the most of this time, leave your inhibitions behind you and go for it this evening...

LAUNCH YOURSELF INTO SPANISH!!!
